He Got Clean, Then Spent Years Helping Other People Get Clean. Kunming Will Try Him on September 16 for Holding the Meetings.
Three members of a thirty person house church in Kunming have been held since April 12. A court has now set the pretrial conference for September 2 and the trial for September 16.
The police came during the service. It was Sunday, April 12. Officers walked into a small Protestant congregation in Kunming, in China's southwest, and stopped the worship in the middle of it.
They took three people out. The minister, Yu Shaolin. Two co-workers, Li Qun and Luo Ping. On May 20 the three were formally arrested on a charge of organizing illegal gatherings and moved to the Guandu District Detention Center. They are still there. That is four and a half months.
The congregation they were taken from has about thirty members. By the account of the people in it, most of them arrive each week carrying something: a chronic illness, money trouble, somebody at home who cannot be left alone for long. It is a church of sick and tired people who meet because meeting is what holds them up.
For four months there was no court date. Now there are two.
